About the instructor

Rebecca is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with several years’ experience working with diverse populations.  She has worked in several treatment facilities and has conducted individual, group and family therapy.  She has experience working with people who struggle with substance use, anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD and trauma-related issues.  Rebecca has specialized in trauma-informed care and believes in a strengths-based approach. She approaches every client with empathy and compassion in order to meet them where they are and empower them to make behavioral changes and heal from past trauma.  Rebecca utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness in sessions with clients. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Marist College and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Monmouth University.


This course is designed for mental health professionals as well as clients.  Its will provide an overview of self-compassion and its three elements.  It will also discuss self-esteem and what can influence a person to have low or high self-esteem such as negative self-talk.  The course will provide viewers with skills to increase self-esteem and self-compassion.   Mindfulness skills will be discussed and how they can increase self-esteem.  Lastly, viewers will be taught about cognitive restructuring techniques and how this can change their self-talk.

This presentation will provide an overview on self-compassion and self-esteem.  Its purpose will be to educate viewers on what affects out self-esteem and what they can do to have higher self-esteem and self-compassion.  The skills taught to increase self-esteem will be cognitive restructuring and mindfulness.

The purpose of this training will be to increase viewers understanding of self-compassion and self-esteem.  Viewers will be able to explain how negative self-talk and other factors relate to self-esteem.  They will also be able to describe how using mindfulness and how utilizing cognitive restructuring will help to  increase self-esteem and self-compassion.
